question of the week: summer tv

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Summer has long been considered a wasteland when it comes to television. But is there another time of the year when it's this acceptable to indulge in reality TV?

And a little shameless plug: If you're having friends over to watch your favorite show, send them an invitation from our movie / TV night gallery.

question of the week: summer drinks

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Certain drinks have a way of conjuring up images of summertime. A daiquiri brings to mind lounging in a poolside chaise, a Mai Tai says sunset at the beach while a glass of Sangria sends you to a backyard barbecue.

Tell us which drink says summer to you.

question of the week: songs of summer

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Seems like every summer there's a new batch of songs that get everyone singing and dancing at parties. And this summer has no shortage of catchy beats and quoted lyrics.

Tell us what tunes you'll be rocking at your get-togethers this summer. (Unless, of course, you're so 2000 and late.)

question of the week: potluck preferences

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

So you receive an Evite invitation, and you usually reply, "What should I bring?" Right? Potlucks are the default for many people, and for good reason: They're easier and more economical for hosts, guests are guaranteed to like at least one dish, and everybody gets to feel involved in the party.

But let's be honest, sometimes potlucks can be a bit of a pain. As a host, you could end up with 5 mac and cheeses and nothing else (actually, that sounds like a pretty good party), or you could find yourself assigning dishes to each person...or having to endure some nasty, fun-reducing food-like concoctions. And as a guest, you have to figure out what to bring and find a way to transport it to the place you're going without it spoiling or spilling all over you. Good luck with that.

question of the week: summertime blues

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Well, today's already the second day of summer. The thrill is gone. Let the griping begin.

We spend the rest of the year looking forward to days that live up to the summers of our memories and complaining about all the bad things we blocked out from last summer. Mosquito bites. Peeling sunburns. Just how long the drives and lines were to do anything fun.

Get your crabbiness out of your system here and then head out to enjoy this gorgeous day!

question of the week: tv dads

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

In honor of Father's Day on Sunday, let's talk dads — particularly TV dads who have a special place in our hearts. Sometimes we love them because they remind us so much of our own dads (like Danny Tanner for me, who is dark-haired, slightly goofy and from San Francisco). Other times it's because they're nothing like our real dads (hello, Rufus Humphrey).

No matter why, chances are you have a favorite TV dad or two. Tell us who in our poll. If we've left your favorite TV dad off the list, let's have a heartfelt, Full House-esque discussion about it in the comments. (Cue sentimental music.)

question of the week: getting out

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

The sun is shining, and it's time to take the socializing outdoors. Barbecues and pool parties are great, but getting friends together for a game of mini golf or an afternoon hike means no menu to plan or post-party clean up. Tell us what you and your group like to do al fresco.

question of the week: doh moments

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Let's face it, we're human. Well, most of us. And as a human, we occasionally act like a total spaz. When we're alone, we can just move on and forget about it. But when our worst moments happen at parties, the stories (and occasionally photos) live on and on. Hooray.

I've been told I can't write this post without confessing one of my own party blunders. So let me set the scene: I was at a college party with my roommate. We didn't know most of the people there, so we amused ourselves by drinking beer and dancing in a corner.

At one point, I lifted my arms up in a particularly awesome dance move that accidentally made me dump my full glass of beer over my head. My friend stopped dancing. I stood there drenched, trying to figure out what to do. As the realization set in that there was just no recovering from that moment, I did what any not-normal person would do and jumped out the window to run home.

question of the week: what's your flavor?

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

I scream, you scream... now that it feels like summer outside, everyone's screaming for ice cream. For the real ice cream lovers out there, pretty much any flavor will do. But everyone has a favorite classic ice cream flavor. Tell us yours!

question of the week: memorial day plans

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Memorial Day is next Monday already. How did that happen? As we honor our military heroes, we also welcome summer by getting together with family and friends.
