question of the week: fave christmas songs

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Last year we asked you about the Christmas songs you wanted to run over with a reindeer, but this year we're feeling a bit more perky.

Did we miss some of your favorite songs? Probably. We struggled to get this list down to ten. As it turns out, Evite staffers have some pretty strong feelings about the best songs of the season.

Because my hands are on the keyboard, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and the Bowie-Bing "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy" remain on the final list. But I agreed to drop The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping," only because people might not know it by that name. (It's the one about the people who both forget the cranberry sauce; "Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! But I think I'll miss this one this year." Is it in your head yet? Good!)

Please let us know your favorites in the comments!

I always cry when I hear the original Judy Garland version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

Jimmy Buffett has a great album of fun Christmas songs. I really like Meli Kalikimaka (the Hawaiian Christmas song with a 1940's sound).

Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan's version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is one of my all-time faves.

Elvis Presley's Blue Christmas!

christmas just ain't christmas without the one you love/ and gee whiz it's christmas by carla thomas/silent night by the temptations and anything by luther vandross

Dear god, these people chose Mariah Carey as their very favorite...blaaah. How could you tone-deaf people select that whiney, squeeling Carey over true masters like Bing Crosby, John Lennon or Bowie? It makes me sad to see people with no sense of great music, choose songs. Oh well, pity.

I know I'm giving away my age, but "Silver Bells," by Elvis Presley and "Carol of the Bells" are my favorite traditional songs. "Santa Baby" is also a favorite.

How about the ole' time "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"? You know it's Christmas when you hear this song or see the 8pm Rudolph special on TV--Lol

Any Christmas song by Elvis should be included but especially "Blue Christmas."

Humm I love any Christmass carols sung by a chior, Have yourself a merry little christmass by Frank Sanatra was my second choice, White Christmass third and Santa Baby. However I also think Alvin and the Chipmonks Christmass music is great too!
