you spin me right round, baby
I'm guessing I'm not alone in my devotion to spin art machines. Every trip to a carnival or amusement park included a long stop at the spin art station, squirting paint and glittering up a storm, watching my blobs spin into patterns I wouldn't have imagined and couldn't believe I'd made. Magic.
Then one birthday, I received my own mini spin art machine. Unlimited spinning art! In my own home! No lines! It was great until the motor broke. I spent hours trying to bring it back to life, to no avail.
I had filed my spin art love alongside memories of other toys that made me feel creative, like Shrinky Dinks and Fashion Plates. And then a visit to CRAFT blog turned up a post about a crafty blogger, Brassy Apple, who created a tutorial for turning a salad spinner into a spin art machine! Not only is this a great way to recycle an old salad spinner, but it's cheap and there's no motor and very few parts to break.
The process of making your spin art with a salad spinner is easy, and the results? Just as magical as I remember.

Can you use the salad spinner to decorate t-shirts? You could have a fun spin art t-shirt party. Once my friends had a silk-screening party, and that was pretty fun.
