question of the week: kid vacation revisited

qwestyuns. I haz dem.

Youth and summer are wasted on the young. Think back to how many summers you complained about how you had nothing to do or how you had to go visit your grandparents or read a whole book before school started again.

Imagine having two or three months off now — to go do crafts and sports at a sleepaway camp, stay out late with the neighborhood kids, get a tan while you're hard at work on the lifeguard stand or watch The Price Is Right and eat popsicles every single day.

I enjoyed summer vacations when I got older. I had to have to job to stay in Philadelphia during the summer, so I worked at the movies and later at an answering service. Now, my kids look forward to summer because we always take a vacation. We have vacationed as a family at Disney World, Panama City Florida, Sesame Street, St. Louis, Louisville and next month we are taking a cruise to the Bahamas!
